The Wheatfield Junior Blades

     The Wheatfield Blades Junior Hockey Club would like to introduce you to our program.  The Junior Blades were established in 1987.  Since then the Junior Blades have helped advance hundreds of its players into Jr. "A", Junior College, College DI & DIII, and Professional programs.

     We have made 13 visits to the USA Junior "B" National Championship, winning them in 1991.  Prior to the 2005-2006 season, the Junior Blades participated in the Empire Junior "B" League, winning the Empire Cup 5 times ('99, '01, '02, '04, and '05). Players accepting the challenge of playing Wheatfield Junior Hockey are part of a great tradition and will be expected to maintain that winning attitude while pursuing their personal goals for hockey and college career advancement.

    In the 2005-2006 season, the Wheatfield Junior Blades program offered players the opportunity to play in the Ontario Hockey Association's - Golden Horseshoe Junior Hockey League (GHL). The Junior Blades play 52 regular season games with playoffs beginning in March with a best of 7 series.  The Golden Horseshoe League was established in 1974 and has had a great tradition of moving players to higher and elite levels of hockey.

     Beginning with the 07 - 08 season the GHL became a part of the larger 26 team, Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) and will play a 52 game league schedule.  The new league is comprised of the three conferences competing within the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA), the Golden Horseshoe Conference (formerly the Golden Horseshoe Hockey League), Western Ontario Conference (formerly the Western Ontario Junior Hockey League) and the Mid Western Conference (formerly the Mid Western Junior Hockey League).  These three organizations will now operate as divisions of the GOJHL and will compete for the Sutherland Cup, the winner becoming the Champion of the new 28-team league.
